Local 79 and the City’s PF&R Division are undertaking joint Labour/Management Committee meetings. These meetings provide a forum for management and the union to discuss and resolve workplace issues that aren’t related to health & safety, bargaining or grievances.
Do you have workplace concerns or issues that you would like to see raised at the PF&R Labour/ Management meeting? If so, please detail your concerns below. Please include enough detail so that the background is understood.

Petition message

Dear Toronto City Council,

I believe that strong recreational programming is crucial to the health and well-being of our communities.

Toronto's recreation programs help our children grow, our youth learn important life skills, and reduce isolation amongst our senior citizens. They help promote newcomer integration and help reduce financial pressures on low-income families.

However, many individuals and families do not have access to the recreation programs they need to live healthy lives and participate fully in their communities.  Increasing our investment and expanding the City’s recreation programs would help youth to be more engaged in their communities, provide valuable opportunities for seniors to become or remain involved, and support newcomer families wanting to integrate into their neighbourhoods.

City recreational programming is a sound financial use of our taxes – for every dollar invested in physical activity, there is a long-term savings of $11 in social, police and health services.

I therefore urge you to support significantly increased investment in  better, more accessible, community recreation programming, starting in the 2013 budget.
