On June 4th, Local 79 and the City of Toronto co-hosted the 11th Annual Equity Symposium: #TimesUp – Working together to end workplace sexual harassment.
The annual symposium aims to help over 100 union stewards and City managers deepen their understanding on a particular topic relating to equity.
This year’s symposium featured two keynote presentations from leading attorneys in the field of sexual harassment: Janice Rubin, a partner at Rubin Thomlinson LLP and a leader in workplace sexual harassment investigations; and Gillian Hnatiw, a partner at Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP and one of Canada’s foremost practitioners in the areas of sexual assault, harassment and violence.
Participants took part in workshops on how to affect change in the workplace and on on sexual harassment bystander intervention training.
