Calling a Code Red on SAMS
On March 12, 2015, CUPE Local 79 members wore red as part of CUPE Ontario’s call to implement a CODE RED on the Province’s Social Assistance Management System (SAMS).
Ever since its rollout, SAMS has caused headaches for the recipients of social assistance and the social service workers that administer the program. And the Province has been far too slow to fix the flawed design.
Local 79 has over 1000 members who work for Toronto Employment & Social Services, and they’re calling on the Province to step up and fix the serious flaws that still plague SAMS.
