CUPE Local 79’s Human Rights Committee has had a busy December, and we’d like to acknowledge their great work.
At a recent Human Rights Committee meeting, members opted to donate their meeting honorariums to the Daily Bread Foodbank, raising $200.
The Committee also ran a winter clothing drive this December, and were completely overwhelmed by the number of donations from Local 79 members. The Committee ended up delivering over 20 large boxes of winter clothing to Toronto shelters.
Most recently, the Committee ran a 50/50 draw at Local 79’s Holiday Party. Human Rights Committee members used the proceeds from that draw to buy gift cards which were later donated to children at one of the City’s family shelters.
We thank the members of Local 79’s Human Rights Committee for their hard work, and especially its Chair, Local 79 Equity Vice President Avaline Miller. See our Instagram posts below!
