City has *not* requested No-Board in talks with Local 79
Various media reports have stated that the City has requested a no-board report in its talks with the City’s “unions.”
To clarify: The City has NOT requested a no-board report in its talks with Local 79.
The City requested a no-board report in its bargaining with Local 416 on Thursday, January 12th, 2012.
A no-board report can be filed by either side in the bargaining process if one of the parties believes negotiations are at an impasse. When the Province issues its no-board report, it takes 17 days before the City or the union can be in a legal lockout or strike position.
Local 79 will continue to negotiate with the City to seek a fair Contracts. We will update Local 79 members immediately on any new developments.
