Corrections to ‘Highlights of the City’s Final Offer’ Document

The ‘Highlights’ document describing the City’s ‘Final Offer’ contains a number of factual errors and misinterpretations. Happy Holidays from CUPE Local 79! As we celebrate the festive season, including Hanukkah and Christmas that begin on the same day this year, we wish everyone a peaceful and joyful holiday season. Let’s celebrate the coming together that make us strong.
As we celebrate the winter solstice and Yalda night, we reflect on the solidarity we’ve been building this year. This season reminds us of the power of connection, reflection, and the warmth of community. Wishing everyone light, strength, and peace in the days ahead.
CUPE Local 79 continues to stand in solidarity and show up to Canadian Union of Postal Workers (@cupwsttp ) strike lines, as CUPW members face an unacceptable attack on their fundamental rights. The federal government’s decision to impose back-to-work legislation undermines workers’ constitutional right to strike and the collective bargaining process. Postal workers are fighting for critical issues, including fair wages, workplace safety, and equality for all employees. These demands are not just reasonable—they are necessary for ensuring workplace dignity and equity. CUPE Local 79 calls on the federal government to respect the democratic rights of workers. Labour rights are human rights, and any attack on one union is an attack on us all.
Today, we stood together with workers at Carefree Lodge, a City-operated long-term care home, who are demanding better working conditions, respect, and fair treatment. Joined by our allies from OPSEU, Labour Council, ATU 113, and others in the labour movement, we sent a powerful message to management: everyone deserves safe workplaces and the dignity of being heard.
