Kraft: Don't kill Toronto jobs for condos

07 December 2012

For years, the workers at the Mr. Christie factory on Lakeshore have baked countless products, from Ritz crackers to Chips Ahoy cookies, right here in Toronto. But that could soon change.

On November 1st, the company announced it was shutting down the plant to allow condos to be built on the land instead, with no warning to workers.

While Toronto City Council agrees it’s wrong, only the Ontario government can step in and prevent the factory’s sale to developers.

We need to encourage Ontario government to step in and safeguard these jobs.

To do so, please phone Minister Brad Duguid at (416) 325-6900 and ask him to intervene.  Or e-mail him at brad.duguid@ontario.ca
