On Thursday, May 24th, Local 79 headed out to Local 966’s picket line in Peel Region to support our unionized brothers and sisters in their fight for just working conditions.

The Region of Peel unilaterally imposed new terms and conditions of employment on their employees, and asked their mostly female, unionized employees to accept a pay freeze while giving other non-unionized (mostly male) workers a 2% increase. Shameful.

Local 79 President Tim Maguire presented a cheque to the Local 966 membership. And, in order to bring some fun to the line, we had our very own Equity Vice-President Ainsworth Hamilton give a self-defence demonstration. Check out the photos below!
