Local 79 highlights continued SAMS administrative burden & flawed Fleet Services contract
On Monday, January 23 — Local 79 presented at the City’s Government Management Committee about our concerns regarding the Social Assistance Management System’s (SAMS) continued administrative burden in the Toronto Employment & Social Services Division. We questioned the wisdom of eliminating 66 temporary positions that were originally brought in to help alleviate that burden.
We also presented on the Committee’s consideration to extend NAPA’s parts management contract by another year while Fleet Services tries to find a new provider. A new provider is needed because the NAPA contract created problems with the quality of service, cost overruns and delays. Parts management was better managed by the City of Toronto — and that’s why we argued to bring the the service back in house.
