On Monday, January 22, 2024, Local 79 President Nas Yadollahi attended the City of Toronto’s Budget Committee to comment on the 2024 City Budget.

In her deputation, Nas commended the City on beginning the process of re-investing in the Toronto’s public services. She also asked the Committee to further invest in the City’s community centres and their programming, which lie at the heart of uplifting Toronto’s most vulnerable residents and creating safer neighbourhoods.

Nas also spoke to City workers’ wages, which have often not kept up with industry standards nor reflect any longer the more complex, changing type of work that staff now face.
