Services Cut, Taxpayers Ignored

City Releases Public Works and Infrastructure Core Service Review

TORONTO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire – July 12, 2011) – “So much for Rob Ford’s campaign promises to not cut services in our City,” says CUPE Local 79 President, Ann Dembinski, in reaction to today’s release of the KPMG Core Services Review. “The very first report of this $3 million dollar ‘consultants’ review’ is all about downsizing services that people need.”

“The people of this City spoke loud and clear in the public consultations – they want public services, and they’re willing to pay for them. If the mayor didn’t intend to listen to the people why did he waste taxpayers’ money and time surveying and consulting?

“When you shrink your workforce – you lose services. It’s that simple.”

“This is the Ford ideology — cut, cut cut. It doesn’t seem to matter if the cuts make sense or even save money. Mayor Rob Ford is not doing the right thing for the City,” Dembinski said.
