Tentative deal reached for Local 79 Part-Time Recreation Workers
Negotiators for Local 79 and the City of Toronto have reached a tentative contract agreement covering 8,600 part-time recreation employees.
The two sides went back to the bargaining table today to hammer out a better deal after the workers voted down a City offer on Wednesday.
Local 79 President Tim Maguire said the union would recommend the members ratify the new agreement at a meeting to be held next week.
Two other bargaining units, representing the majority of full-time and part-time City employees, ratified their contracts on Wednesday. A dispute involving a fourth bargaining unit of part-time employees at City-owned Long-Term Care facilities is to be submitted to an arbitrator for resolution.
