City workers set another United Way fundraising record!

09 December 2015

Yesterday, City workers announced another fundraising record of $1,580,000 in support of United Way Toronto & York Region. Local 79 was proud to participate in many of this year’s events, including the Civic Run, the fire truck team pull, the Civic Gala, and the CN Tower Stair Climb.

We are proud to say we’ve been recognized, both locally and nationally, for spearheading a joint fundraising campaign with management to support Toronto communities.

Local 79 has always had a special relationship with the United Way. As frontline City workers, we’ve seen first hand how Toronto has become the inequality and child poverty capital of Canada. United Way charities often work alongside our members to help curb that trend. We look forward to breaking our fundraising goal again next year!
