CUPE Local 79 is looking for a short-term organizer to work as part of the Engagement team to help engage, motivate and organize our members ahead of this round of bargaining with the City of Toronto.
General information
12-month contract with possibility of extension.
Start date: late March- early April.
Non bargaining unit.
Salary & benefits
Salary range: $80,000-$90,000

Desired qualifications
- Experience in political or labour organizing at a City-wide or regional level;
- Knowledge of the Ontario or Canadian Labour movement;
- Understanding of and commitment to progressive politics;
- Experience with digital outreach tools (databases, CallHub, Google suite, etc.);
- Understanding of mobilization techniques to engage union members;
- Ability to travel around the City of Toronto and access to a vehicle (preferred);
- Outstanding administrative and logistical skills;
- Strong time management skills to meet deadlines;
- Dynamic communication skills both orally and in writing;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and individuals;
- Experience in leading and motivating volunteers or staff members;
- Experience with bargaining a bonus.
